Legacy giving is also a means whereby you can pay it forward for years into the future to support the community that has meant so much to you and allows you to reflect your life’s values with your directed gifts. Legacy giving to The Our Fund Foundation will help make sure that non-profits will continue to serve our LGBTQ community for decades because of the forward thinking and generosity of our donors.

How do I make a legacy gift?

Legacy giving through The Our Fund Foundation involves at least two main steps.

First, you make The Foundation the philanthropic beneficiary in your estate planning. This can be done in a will, a revocable trust, or even through the beneficiary designations in your retirement accounts and other assets.

Then you meet with The Foundation as your planned giving and legacy partner to communicate to us exactly how you want your legacy gift used. This is your opportunity to designate special purposes or organizations that will be supported, key areas close to your passions that you may want to receive future grants, and to scope the annual impact your fund can achieve or length of time you would like your fund to last.

Why should you create a legacy through The Our Fund Foundation?

By partnering with The Our Fund Foundation, we become the ‘eyes and ears’ over your legacy gift and help ensure that your intentions are safely guarded and administered long after you are gone. We will distribute your legacy gift according to your instructions, essentially becoming the trustee of the legacy gift given to our community.

You may also leave your legacy gift as an unrestricted gift, meaning that The Foundation will have your permission to use the funds as needed and to address whatever the most critical needs of our community may be at the time. Through our grant application and review processes, we are constantly able to assess what our community most needs and what non-profit organization is best serving our community through their programs and services.
