Marq Mitchell (he/him) is the founder and Lead Steward of Chainless Change, Inc. (CCI), a grassroots organization in South Florida addressing mass incarceration through advocacy, community organizing, and direct service. A bold visionary who inspires others to act toward eliminating inequities, Marq also serves as a messenger of healing, recovery, and hope for fellow justice-involved people.
Marq has received extensive recognition for his work and has participated in multiple competitive leadership programs. He is a 2023 New Profit Fellow, a 2022 Echoing Green Fellow, a 2022 Voqal Fellow, and a 2021 Roddenberry Fellow. In 2021, he was named a Radical Partners Neighborhood Hero and received The Sentencing Projects’ Race and Justice Award. He also received the Broward Young Democrats Trailblazer of the Year Award in 2020.
